Battles - Mirrored

A band that are really pushing the boundaries these days. Getting quite big fairly rapidly, they are sometimes referred to as math rock. I love pretty much all their releases so far, so here's a nice tasty one to start with.

The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium

For a very long time this was my all time favorite album. I think most people have heard it, but for those who haven't, well, you're about to be introduced to one of the most innovative bands out there today. They introduced me to weird music pretty much, so I owe it to them (new album next January which I'm sure will be available on here).
